August 2025 Newsletter
Figured we’d start a monthly newsletter! This will be posted on our website: Proj220.com on the 15th of each month as a mid-month checkup! We will also send them out via WhatsApp and email. I have no parent emails, so please quickly fill this survey out!
Coach Siri is now a Part-Time Route Setter for Movement Valhalla, and Coach Austin is a Contract Route Setter for Method! Super exciting as we try to cater a lot of our setting to our athletes. If presented the opportunity, please try to check these gyms out, whether it be at practices or individually.
Also, a TON of traveling with our Mad Rock family! Check it out below!
as of late…
Hope everyone had a great summer full of relaxation and adventures! We’ve been very overwhelmed with the support we’ve received. This truly is a family, and we couldn’t be prouder to represent a group of kids so dedicated to their craft! This season’s about to be a huge one! Tons to unpack in this newsletter!
If you’ve not yet familiarized yourself with our website, please take some time to play around! You can find a ton of resources through the “Team Hub” page! As you’ve probably noticed, we have plans to introduce nutritionists and PT specialists in the future! Super stoked on that!
Things have been super busy, as you’ll find when you read more about it! We’re trying to provide the best support and resources for our athletes to enrich their experience in our program! Very thrilled to announce that things are still moving and maybe even faster than before! Happy reading!

Super Awesome

IN NORTHVALE! As we’re gearing up to sign and make things official, to make magic happen, we need the time and support from our community! Here are ways you can be a part of something huge!
WE HAVE A BUILDING!!!
1. Volunteer!
As you know, this is a passion project, and it takes a village! Aside from renovations and contracting work, most of the build-out and construction will be done by us! Since this facility is by the community, for the community, we wanted to open the doors to any volunteer work!
-
Painting, cleaning, renovation and demo, furniture assembly, pad assembly, wall assembly, organization, hold inventory, etc.!
-
Come learn how to build, start up, and run a gym!
For students, we’ll be offering a TON of Volunteer Hours! Literally so much experience up for grabs on so many different aspects of design, construction, and business administration!
Most importantly, you’re leaving YOUR mark on the facility! Be a part of something bigger and bring YOUR visions and ideas to life!
-
All volunteering will be SAFE and FUN! Only do what YOU are comfortable with! Everything will be done under heavy supervision, and more physical tasks will have age restrictions.
Volunteers will be provided adequate equipment and safety gear depending on what they choose to do!
2. HYPE!
PUMP THIS UP! This project is spearheading the climbing industry! There are no other gyms in the area that focus solely on training the next generation and elite athletes. Our sets will be unheard of, our atmosphere will be iconic, our culture will be unmatched. We’re pouring time into fostering a community of supportive, passionate, and PSYCHED climbers! Let’s spread the word like wildfire!
3. Trust the Process!
We’ve asked a lot from all of you. Staying with us means so much more than you’ll know, and none of this would’ve even been fathomable without the team and community we are SO incredibly lucky to have. Thank you for trusting in us. We understand that competition season is right around the corner. We understand that climbing and maintaining stability for this season has been unpredictable. Most importantly, we understand that all of you sacrificed a lot because you entrusted us to pull through. And we are! This is only moving as fast as it is because of YOU. So thank you! We’re eternally grateful! We’re nearing the end of uncertainty and the beginning of something incredible! And it’s all because of you! ❤️
Anything means everything! We want to make an impact, and we’d love our community to unite to make this insanely special!
Updates on our timeline soon! In the meantime, we’d like to host a Google Meet on Sunday, August 24th at 6PM for this upcoming season (changes and approaches), team training, immediate course of action, and any FAQs. Feel free to have your athletes tune in! Would be great to see everyone and catch up! The more the merrier! Please try to attend this meeting to stay up to speed! 😁
So lucky to have you all! Thanks everyone! To all dreams, big and small!
Practices & Events
A little birdie told me it’s almost comp season!
Here are some events to look out for!
COMP Saturday, August 16th : End of the Line 2025 @ CRG Chelsea
Sunday, August 17th : Competitive Climbing Clinic with Austin Hoyt @ CRG Chelsea
Saturday, August 30th & Sunday, August 31st : Primal Pre-Season Competition Training Camp @ GV Radnor
…And a lot more in October!
End of the Line! Hoping to have a good 220 turn up at this local comp! Siri and Austin will both be there competing in Session 1! It’ll be a great opportunity to dip your toes back into the competitive scene before the season starts! Let us know if you’re planning to attend!
The next day, Austin will be hosting a Competitive Climbing Clinic at CRG Chelsea, going over competition tactics on these boulders and how to maneuver through a competition. Definitely worth checking it out since we don’t often have the opportunity to learn on intentionally set competition boulders. Registration for athletes ages 13 and up.
Some big opportunities are coming up for our kiddos! Austin and Siri will be coaching a Pre-Season Training Camp alongside Nick Ranelli from Team Primal and others in late August! This is a two-day training camp designed to properly prep our athletes for the upcoming Bouldering Season! We recommend attending both days and bringing the psych! If your goals are to level up, this is the camp to attend! Sign up below with the prorate “HIGHE” for $100 off the Full Weekend price OR $100 off your day of choice. Those registering for the Full Weekend will also be refunded an additional $100 through the Team Fund after registering! Let us know!
As always, we plan to compete through the summer at local competitions! Something we pride ourselves on is having a line of coaches that also compete at a high level. We recommend athletes competing alongside them to learn in real experiences how they navigate a competitive atmosphere! Here are some highlights from our last comp at Movement Callowhill!
That’s all for now!
Please have your athletes brainstorm their goals, and no goals are too big! We’ll be going over this in the next few sessions!
I’d also love to get athlete profiles up on our website (for those comfortable)! Proud to have a team of bright, motivated, and exciting climbers! Wahoo!
Lastly, make sure to follow our Instagram, @Proj.220! Many highlights and updates there!
YAY! SUPER PSYCHED! LET’S GOOO!!!
Thanks, everyone!
